Engineering Manager at Boulder Care

 

We strive to create a highly collaborative environment within the product-development group and value feedback from everyone. As an Engineering Manager at Boulder, your role will involve soliciting that feedback to create an environment where the team feels valued and empowered to share in the decision making that happens in the department from how we work to the features that we build. 

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-2 teams of developers
  • Provide technical direction and be involved in architecting solutions with the engineering team
  • Mentor engineers on the team, ranging from junior to senior developers
  • Deliver feedback to the team, including regular 1-1s with your direct reports
  • Take feedback from the team and roll that back into decisions around process and day-to-day operations
  • Work with the product and leadership teams in prioritizing work on a quarterly, monthly and daily basis

Skills

  • Full understanding of the SDLC and the ability to make recommendations to the team for following best practices and increasing the efficiency and happiness of the team
    • You should embrace the idea that there is no perfect process for all teams and companies. We take past experiences and use that to inform the things we try as we work on finding the best process available for our team.
  • Experience in a startup environment
    • Understands how to manage risk in a fast-paced environment in order to help achieve the company goals
  • Ability to participate in and lead discussions on architectural direction
  • Demonstrated leadership and a desire to have the voices on your team be heard

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
    • You should be able to clearly express and represent both your ideas as well as that of your team to management and the entire product-development team
